Hardwood Floor Water Damage Repair in the Phoenix Metro

Water-damaged hardwood floors don't always need full replacement. With fast extraction, proper drying, and skilled sanding and refinishing, many cupped or stained hardwood floors can be saved at a fraction of replacement cost. ProWorx Restoration is a licensed Arizona general contractor (ROC #349454) handling the full process — from emergency extraction through final refinish coat — under one contract.
Arizona's low humidity is actually an asset here. Once standing water is removed, our specialized hardwood drying mats and dehumidifiers can pull moisture out of plank flooring more quickly than in humid climates. Catching damage in the first 24–48 hours often makes the difference between a $2,000 refinish and a $12,000 full replacement.
We work on solid hardwood, engineered hardwood, and wide-plank flooring throughout the Phoenix metro, and coordinate directly with your insurance carrier — see insurance restoration for claim support. For larger losses we also handle full water damage restoration and flooring installation when replacement is required.

Our Hardwood Floor Water Damage Process

Every job starts with extraction within hours — the faster water is removed, the more floor we can save. We then deploy specialized hardwood drying mats (Injectidry or similar) and dehumidifiers, monitoring moisture content daily. Once the floor is dry to spec, we sand out cupping and stains, replace any boards beyond repair, then refinish with your choice of stain and topcoat — water-based polyurethane for fast cure or oil-based for the traditional warm tone.

When Hardwood Can Be Saved vs Replaced

Light cupping (edges slightly higher than centers) almost always sands out. Moderate cupping with no buckling and no subfloor damage usually refinishes successfully. Severe buckling, crowning, or boards lifted off the subfloor typically require board replacement or a full re-lay. Engineered hardwood with delaminated veneer has to be replaced — it can't be sanded. We give you an honest assessment after moisture testing.

    Matching Replacement Boards & Refinishing

We source matching species (oak, hickory, maple, walnut), board width, and grade from regional flooring suppliers. After installation we sand the entire room or area to a single plane, apply matching stain, and blend the refinish edge into adjacent flooring so the repair is invisible. Refinishing typically takes 3–5 days of cure time before furniture returns.
