    Ceiling Fan Installation

ProWorx Restoration installs ceiling fans across the Phoenix metro — interior fans, wet-rated outdoor fans for covered patios, high-CFM models for cathedral and great-room ceilings, and smart-controlled fans with Wi-Fi or HomeKit integration. We replace existing fans, install where no fixture exists (new electrical box and wiring), and handle the structural support and bracing required for safe installation. Arizona ROC #349454.
Ceiling fans matter more in Arizona than almost anywhere. Even with cooling running, a properly sized fan creates a 4–6°F perceived-temperature drop, letting you raise the thermostat 4°F and cut cooling costs 15–30% during May–September. The reverse is true on covered patios — wet-rated outdoor fans extend usable outdoor hours into July evenings. Sizing and proper bracing are non-negotiable: a 52" fan in a 12'x12' room moves too much air; a 36" fan in a great room is invisible.
We work all Phoenix-metro jurisdictions and pull electrical permits where required. For broader interior work see interior restoration. For room-level remodeling see general remodeling.

Our Fan Installation Process in Arizona

We start with assessment: existing box rated for fan support (UL listed, not just a light-fixture box), wire run for separate fan/light control, ceiling height and slope. New install: cut box opening, install fan-rated box (Saf-T-Brace or equivalent) with structural support to joists, run 14/3 wire to a dual-switch (separate fan and light control), terminate at switch and fan. Mount, balance, and test all speeds plus reverse function. Standard install: 1–2 hours. New install with wiring run: 2–4 hours. Multiple fans or cathedral-ceiling work: half day.

Common Fan Installation Issues in Phoenix-Metro Homes

Three problems show up repeatedly. First, light-fixture boxes used to support fans — NEC 314.27 requires fan-rated boxes (50 lb dynamic load minimum), and fans hung from light boxes can rip out of the ceiling. Second, undersized fans in great rooms — a 52" fan in a 20'x20' room moves almost no air; we spec 60"–72" for large spaces. Third, missing downrods on cathedral ceilings — fans need 8"–9" blade-to-ceiling clearance for efficient airflow; flush-mounted fans on high ceilings underperform badly. We size and mount correctly the first time.

    Materials & Standards We Use

Installation per NEC 314.27 (fan-rated boxes) and 422.18 (fan support and mounting). Fan-rated boxes from RACO, Carlon, or Westinghouse Saf-T-Brace. Wire: 14/3 minimum (separate hot for fan and light). Switches: Lutron or Leviton dual-rocker or smart switches. Wet-rated fans (UL 1598 wet location) for any exterior or pool-adjacent installation. Damp-rated for covered patios protected from direct rain. All work permitted where required and warrantied under ROC #349454.
